Cap City Collective Professional Cyclocross Team exists to promote the underrepresented population segment of women in professional sports, particularly cycling. While women make up roughly 51% of the U.S. population they only represent 14% of the those involved in competitive cycling and are severely underrepresented on the professional level. We see this as an opportunity to empower women, help them break common misconceptions, assist them in gaining leadership positions, grow support for female athletic aspirations and use this experience as a stepping stone for success. Most importantly, we aim to help them prove to themselves and others that women are strong, capable and worthy of having the same dreams and aspirations as their male counterparts.
The Cap City Collective Off-Road Development Team exists to grow cycling, specifically off-road disciplines, while providing youths (boys and girls) who demonstrate exceptional potential, come from a disadvantaged background or who exhibit other special characteristics that align with Cap City Collectives goals exceptional opportunities. These youths will be given the unique chance to receive one-on-one instruction from members of the Cap City Collective Professional CX Team. They will also be given the opportunity to participate in practices, clinics, local and regional races in both the disciplines of cyclocross and mountain bike. The youths of the development team will learn invaluable teamwork skills, leadership skills, problem solving, how to overcome adversity, become community volunteers and position themselves for success in the next steps of their lives.
